The Douglas Legacy 2.0

The Douglas family was devistated by Pearl's bad stroke of luck as she attempted to repair the radio....

Ruby took it extremely hard; the shock of it turned every hair on her head instantly grey. The Grim Reaper came, laughing at the whole thing. Apparently to him it was all a big laugh.

He said that he couldn't wait to see Pearl die again so he brought her back from the dead just in case she felt like having another accident or two.

Soon afterwards was a cause for much celebration among the Douglas family. Jack was especially pleased at the birth of his first grandchild! Pearl and Karim had a little boy that they named Cody.

Jeremy wasn't quite sure what to think of being an uncle. He sat on the couch with an older friend watching tv as his dad stood nearby cuddling little Cody as he watched tv.

Before long, though, he was mature enough to handle it. He still kept in close contact with his brothers

and Chace. Chris gave Jeremy an uncertain look from across the room.

Jeremy had just asked if he could move in with him and Chace when he was old enough to move out. Chris said maybe, but he just found out that he is going to be a father. Jack overheard, unsure how to feel since he knows that Chris is not married.

Jack said that he was exhaused and excused himself to go to bed. He really wanted some time to think about what to say to Chris.

Before long Karim and Pearl were expecting a second child. Pearl wanted a big family just like her father, but she also wanted to be a surgeon so she had mixed emotions about missing so much work for maternity leave.

Karim decided to surprise his family by cooking dinner for them...only he forgot that he isn't exactly the best and safest cook. Fear struck Jack as his kitchen started to blaze with hot burning fire. Ash stung his eyes as he grabbed a fire extinguisher to try and put the blaze out.

Jeremy bravely jumped in and helped his father fight the blaze. He wasn't sure if that was grey in his father's hair or if it was just covered in ash.

Luckily everyone was safe and the fire was quickly extinguished. Jack sat down with Chris that day and had a serious man to man talk about fatherhood. He said that the girl just wasn't ready to settle down but she agreed to sign over custody of the child to him, so Chris remained a single dad. Jack was glad, at least, that his grandson would have a strong father. He wished very much that Chris was willing to speak about who the mother was, but he refused. He said that Chace would help him raise the boy.

It wasn't long before Pearl's second child, a little girl, was born. She named her Emily.

Jack sat alone in the livingroom, his wife and daughter were both still asleep in the early morning hours. He had to face the fact that before too much longer either he or Ruby wouldn't be there any longer for the family. He hoped that the legacy he left behind had a strong foundation that would be strong enough to endure through the generations.

Later that day, Ruby and Karim sat down to watch their favorite show together. Little Cody crawled into the room behind them and also sat down to watch, but he was scared so he kept ducking behind the big chair for protection.

Pearl came in, explaining to Karim that two children just weren't enough. She wanted to have one more.

Karim was happy to comply. The creation process was easy enough!

Emily spent much of her time playing with blocks and all the numerous other toys scattered all over the nursery. She knew nothing of the hardships that Jack and his children faced as they scratched out a life.

Cody grew up swiftly, eager to face the world, though he found it very difficult to stand still and listen to uncle Jeremy's ramblings when he wanted to be out playing.

Jeremy went over to Chris and Chace's house to visit often.

He gradually realized that their life seemed pretty settled.

He began to think about getting a place by himself when he was a young adult rather than living with them.

Emily was uncertain about the whole potty training business, especially when her momma's big baby bump about knocked her over!

Somehow, instead of giving his niece her bottle, Jeremy managed to Epoxy it to the back of his hand.
